Remembrance Day Concert

+Instead of mounting our own concert last Autumn we agreed to take part in a concert organised by the Army in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund on the evening of Remembrance Day, Tuesday November 11th, in St Wulfram’s Church. The army band was that of the Parachute Regiment conducted by Warrant Officer Class One Esther Freeborn.

The programme was a varied one and included three contributions from the choir - Parry’s "I was glad" and the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Messiah (Handel) conducted by our Musical Director Philip Robinson, and "In these stones horizons sing" by Carl Jenkins conducted by W O Esther Freeborn. As Philip commented, he has conducted the Hallelujah Chorus on many occasions and with many different orchestras and instrumental groups, but conducting it with the accompaniment of a brass band was definitely a "first"!

This was also the first time for the Choral Society to sing with a military wind band, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and greatly appreciated their superb musicianship.

Come and Sing Carols:

Our annual Carol concert was held at ChristChurch, Finkin Street, Grantham on Tuesday 16th December and Wednesday 17th December.
