GCS in the Swim Again!
Sunday, 7th February 2010 - an intrepid team from the Grantham Choral Society and GCS Youth Choir took part in the 21st Anniversary Swimarathon organised by the Rotary Club of Grantham.
The team consisted of John Morrissey, Conor Morrissey, Beverley Myers, Elizabeth Bowskill, John Bowskill and William Cherry. In all they swam a very creditable 154 lengths and raised the sum of £214 - very well done.
Below is a photograph showing Bill King, the GCS Chairman, having presented Swimarathon 2010 medals and certificates at our last rehearsal to Beverley Myers, Elizabeth Bowskill, John Bowskill and Conor Morrissey.

RAFBF Concert Raffle Winner
Following the very successful Concert we held with the Band of the RAF College Cranwell there was a retiring collection of Gift Aid envelopes. Not only was the donor able to give extra monies through the Gift Aid system but was also entered into a raffle with the prize of a bottle of fine scottish wine.
All together, with the retiring collection, the Grantham Choral Society was proud to be able to donate the excellent sum of £3300 to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
Below is a photograph showing the raffle winner, Mrs Lincoln, accepting her prize from GCS Committee Member Mr Roger Sleigh.

- Appointment of Assistant Musical Director
We are very pleased to extend a warm welcome to Tim Williams to this new post. Tim is a Cambridge graduate and he is the organist and choir master of St Wulfram's Church. His duties as far as the Choral Society are concerned will be to share rehearsals with Philip Robinson, particularly of the St Matthew Passion, when the choir divides into two choruses, and to be the Musical Director of the Youth Choir. A biography of Tim Williams can be found here.

- The return of our President Philip Robinson as temporary Musical Director.
We are delighted to welcome Philip back as our MD. He very kindly agreed to help us for an interim period while a permanent MD is appointed. This means that Philip will be MD for the 2008-2009 season and at least part of the following season as well.
